A KID LIKE ME

i picked up

the mail at the post office.

vanity the focus of humor.

amused in the fact

the envelope came by way

of poetry dot com.

a poem visible

through the cellophane.

it wasn’t mine.

though, a few words stood out.

first: outcast – a poetic pretense.

second: toke – an altered mentality.

that first puff had power.

end result: the torment ended – popularity ensued!!
