SACRIFICIAL FEVER

here i find you

hot upon my forehead

as if beads of sweat

exerted through pores

from a great workout

hidden within for ultimate release.

when they drip

to illuminate in light,

they cut like razors

through the air

and land upon the flesh

as if blood flows out of the wrist.

as my fingers

are covered in red,

it leaves the page

with an image

that soaks into the poem

from a permanent heated sweat

induced by the mercury

that runs out my veins.
