WINE N WHISKEY NEVER MIX

peakin through the curtains

with my umpteen cup of coffee,

let me know

of stories of livin n learnin

while i’ve still got time

between workin n reworkin

in the peace n quiet.

seems like that bottle of wine

chillin under a pennsylvania moon so bright

is believin in brown eyes

in all the pretty nouns,

leavin me watchin ya

in movin rhythmic renaissance eyes,

cause it’s gettin kinda late girl

to count my country blessings.

though i’m leavin the light on

tryin to learn your everyday lessons

in rain or shine

to an away we go,

turnin its back

hurtin in whiskey

till this ride

shines down the feel good side

of that forever

all in us tuckin in the lovin road.
