A SMALL TALE OF TYRANNY

in one dreamy hum,
i saw wavering sable draperies
fashion syllables
in the deepest of slumbers.
then floating in mid air,
some musical cadence,
along with sad visions,
to await the next sacrifice,
where stone floors,
and some faint light
suddenly drove blood
in torrents across my skin,
where perspiration burst
out of every pore.
there were whispers,
“be still, the walls aren’t closing in just yet.”
i woke up just like that
and saw the slicing pendulum
starting to go back and forth.
