i read one of bukowski’s poems,
and in it i remember him sayin
that his critics often complained
about his material being repetitive.
i don’t understand
what their beef is with that.
for instance,
if one sits down to watch a sitcom,
one realizes there is a similar format
that makes the show successful.
if they made drastic changes,
i would think they would lose their viewers.
i am into buk’s chuckin his verse
to define his style.
i wouldn’t want to use that as a tactic myself,
cause then i’d be labeled a copycat.
my approach is a tad different,
but ya gotta have some guts,
and if the formula works –
fuck the critics that bash your style.
